About ALKEBULAN

ALKEBULAN is an independent publication (i.e. our funding from official sources: businesses or political parties, is nil) first published in June 1991. A variety of nuances have prevented consistent publication. In no way has this reality resulted in ALKEBULAN’s incapacitation; neither has it rendered us uncommitted participants in the national debate on issues affecting Belizeans.

Our resources, both human and financial, restrict our ability to do investigative or even the lower form of journalism, reporting.  Therefore, the information presented in our publication will be primarily in the form of commentaries and analysis of situations or circumstances.

Our evolution to commentator-status is partly influenced by the fact that most, if not all of Belize’s media concentrate its energies and utilize most of its print space or air time with reporters’ stories free of analysis or extrapolation.

We invite your comments and analysis on situations and circumstances affecting us as Belizeans.  Feel free to forward this free       e-bulanletter and submit e-mail addresses for our distribution list.

To create this e-zine, I just sat down and thought to myself: what do I like to read? The content comes from a variety of sources: some I've written myself, some has been written by friends, and some has been contributed by other Internet users just like you.

I hope you enjoy this e-zine. Be sure to send e-mail to let me know what you think (or to contribute articles or ideas). I'll be updating frequently, so check back often!
